“Right above the surface of the clouds, a whole different kind of world exists. It’s not often that we get to experience these peaceful and serene moments of simple beauty, but every so often during a plane trip or a hike up to a mountaintop, this gorgeous world reveals itself.
And now, there’s no need to travel to check out these stunning places, set against fluffy white billowing clouds. In this collection, photographers all over the world have brought picturesque views down to the ground for the rest of us to see. Each photographer has captured variations of vibrant and heavenly sunsets, the soothing calm of dawn, and otherworldly landscapes that will take your breath away. You may even feel the urge to run and frolic across the surface of the thick, dense clouds while enjoying the miles and miles of this unending, magical universe.”

The winners of the 48th annual Veolia Environmental Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition were announced on October 17th featuring 100 incredible photos selected from 48,000 entries originating from 98 countries, with top prize claimed by Paul Nicklen for his bubbly capture of emperor penguins. Here are ten of my favorites and you can see all of the winners in person at the Natural History Museum in London through March 2013. A full gallery is also available online. (via flavorwire)

We couldn’t help but be captivated by these beautiful yet haunting captures of identical twins by Tereza Vickova. The fine art approach and beautiful light adds to the naive feel to each of her subjects. Some have given mixed emotions to this series. Some say haunting, some say creative. What do you think?
Paolo Roversi is one of the most coveted photographers in the fashion industry. He’s also one of the most published photographers in Vogue and has inspired many to keep the look and use of film in his photographs. If he doesn’t inspire you to pick up a medium or large format camera, I don’t know who will.
Watch Paolo in action here.
You may have watched it but in cased you missed it, Felix Baumgartner broke a world record yesterday by free falling from space and breaking the sound barrier. Photographer Balazs Gardi was the first man to arrive to the landing zone and was fortunate enough to capture the moment.
