Our buddy, Will, at AbandonedNYC.com shared with us some of New York’s most secret and untouched locations that are begging for a Brooke and Lindsay inspired photoshoot!
Dead Horse Bay, also known as Glass Beach, is a known to be a collector’s gold mine and one of the last untouched areas of Brooklyn. Eroded ships and pieces of history lay to rest here in the beaches of Dead Horse. Back in the 1800′s this beach is where the people of New York would come to drop off their dead horses and broken buggies and, grossly, chop them up for glue. You can still find the bones from horses. The fact that this bay hasn’t changed or been touched for hundreds of years is literally a piece of history.

The Landing at Floyd Bennet Field honors the Brooklyn native and national hero who’d won the Medal of Honor by breaking barriers as the first to fly over the North Pole. Since being dwarfed by New Jersey airport, Floyd Bennett Field is due for a rebirth, and it’s just waiting to be discovered. Until then, let’s enjoy the absolute decayed eye candy that’s just waiting for your cameras to capture it. We can only imagine top styled fashion models from Lindsay’s shoots and the stories that Brooke will tell in these locations!

What’s Included: The day will begin by gathering at the [F] Loft in Brooklyn for a morning of breakfast and inspirational discussion and presentation. . Many different inspiration exercises will be completed to help kickstart the creative juices. Before & after and behind the scenes images will be shared. Lunch will also be provided. The group will then jump into the [F] Van to be driven out to the stellar locations for shooting demonstrations from both Lindsay and Brooke. Both Dead Horse Bay and Floyd Bennett Landing are right next to each other so the group will be split in half to shoot high fashion with Lindsay and Conceptual Storytelling with Brooke. Both groups will have the opportunity to shoot both locations to build your portfolio. Stylists, models, wardrobe will be provided for your shooting.
All participants should understand basic functions of their DSLR camera. This workshop is designed to create an equally valuable environment for all levels of photographers. The day will be complete with each workshop attendee shooting models with guided mentorship to shoot two different techniques (composite fine art and fashion) of photography throughout the day.
Hours will be dedicated to both shooting demos, individual attendee shooting time, intimate mentorship, editing demonstrations featuring image compositing as well as many tips and tricks for changing color, making selective adjustments, and adding texture. The [F] Van will then drive the group back to the [F] Loft in Brooklyn for hugs and goodbyes. Don’t miss this incredible opportunity of shooting and inspiration and one of New York’s best kept secret locations!
